‘Lo yoga non è uno sport’: Mobilitazione degli insegnanti di yoga autonomi contro le piattaforme di fitness

La pandemia di Covid-19 ha accelerato l'ascesa delle piattaforme di fitness che offrono lezioni online. Tuttavia, sono poche le ricerche che illustrano come i professionisti del fitness percepiscono e si impegnano con queste piattaforme. Questo articolo si concentra su un gruppo di insegnanti di yoga di Berlino che ha resistito alla crescente influenza delle piattaforme di fitness nel loro settore. Utilizzando un approccio di tipo misto, questo studio di caso della Fair Yoga Initiative indaga perché e come questo gruppo di lavoratori autonomi si sia mobilitato contro le piattaforme. Altre ricerche hanno mostrato che i lavoratori autonomi delle piattaforme devono affrontare numerose sfide per la costruzione del potere collettivo, tra cui l'eterogeneità e la frammentazione della forza lavoro. Questo studio rivela l'importanza degli interessi soggettivi degli insegnanti di yoga nella costruzione della motivazione necessaria per difendere la loro professione dalle pressioni generate dalle piattaforme di fitness. L'articolo esplora come il genere possa giocare un ruolo nel definire gli interessi soggettivi in questa professione altamente femminilizzata. Inoltre, il contributo evidenzia l'importanza dei diritti dei lavoratori autonomi negli attuali dibattiti sulla regolamentazione delle piattaforme di lavoro digitali nell'Unione Europea. Gli insegnanti di yoga hanno fatto leva sul loro potere collettivo per influenzare il dibattito pubblico sulle piattaforme di fitness: si aprono così nuove possibilità affinché queste organizzazioni di lavoratori possano mettere in evidenza i diritti dei gruppi professionali specifici e contribuire allo sviluppo di leggi che proteggano meglio i loro interessi.
