Plataformas de trabajo y legislación laboral en la India: El compromiso de las mujeres y el papel del género

Resumen

La investigación examina las experiencias de los trabajadores con condiciones de género en la economía de plataforma digital en la India. Se presenta una nueva metodología para estudiar las condiciones de trabajo y los principales problemas a los que se enfrentan los trabajadores de plataformas en los segmentos de servicios personales y de belleza. Los datos analizados incluían a 328 trabajadores (hombres y mujeres) asociados a dos plataformas muy extendidas en la India. Se puso de manifiesto que la mayoría de los trabajadores se enfrentan a problemas como el control algorítmico, un apoyo técnico insuficiente, la sumisión a mecanismos de retroalimentación, la necesidad de adherirse a protocolos de seguridad y la preocupación por los costes. El documento también llama la atención sobre las disposiciones existentes para las trabajadoras y los recientes avances legislativos relacionados con el trabajo en plataformas en la India. A través de un análisis detallado de las experiencias de los trabajadores, el documento propone una realineación del marco jurídico indio con el panorama tecnológico mundial en rápida evolución. También se hace hincapié en la necesidad de garantizar la inclusión de género en el acceso al mercado laboral.
